I want to thank you all for your kind support in 2011. It was a wonderfully successful year of new friends and experiences. I am honored that my works have became a part of your lives and homes and I am enriched by knowing you all.
A pleasant suprise: two of my pastels are included in the French art magazine, Pratique des Arts, January 2012 article about artists using trees as a subject: "La Poesie des Arbres," The Poetry of Trees. That's an Ou La La! view the article
New Video: For the last couple of months, I've had a number of day-long studio sessions with the master printer, Mark Lunning, Open Press, Denver. With Mark's good assistance and pro workshop facilities, I've created four new etching editions. It is quite an effort. As they say, "If it were easy, everybody would be doing it" Curently I'm going over the options to hand-color each one before releasing the edition of four prints. View the video on YouTube. I'll post them on my website and blog within a weeks time.
I'll be exhibiting at the Framed Image Gallery, Denver beginning February 5. I'm in a group show titled "Red" ...you get the idea and I'm putting together a number of pieces for the show now.
Also, I've been working on a self-published book that is essentially a catalog of my works in all media. The book will have a generous number of illustrations with some introductory text and a few short essays. Once the photography and edits are complete, it will be ready for release - about a months time. The book will be available in hardcover or soft back and electronically as a sleek download on the ipad.
New Giclee release:
I've just finished a new limited edition giclee.
"Soft Blue Progressions" (from a pastel on paper, private collection.) You can see all of my 65 giclees available in various sizes, paper or canvas on my website.

Happy New Year and here's to a very happy and successful 2012. December was a wonderful month here in the Denver area. We had a foot of snow just before Christmas and everything stayed white for days, making a perfect holiday scene.
December was also the most successful art month I have ever had and I want to thank everyone that made my Christmas an extra happy one! You have given me all the incentive I need to go forward and make new works. So.....
I've started a blog, For the Color. The blog will go a bit further than this newsletter and my website. In the blog I'll take the time to talk about my work in more depth and there will be a lot of bits beyond just my artworks. I'll introduce you to other modern artists and old masters. There will be videos, photos, quotes, insights and instructions from a variety of sources. Watch for music clips, odd bits, fun and wonder. I'm looking forward to introducing you to the things that thrill me and influence my art.
For the past three weeks I've been working on a new project, 4 new etchings, 14 x 14 inches each. I had forgotten how much time and effort is involved in making prints by hand, but they are slowly emerging. I've been working with the Master printer, Mark Lunning at Open Press here in Denver. A couple of the images are posted here. If you look closely, you will see how the paper is embossed by the deeply etched metal plates.
Also, I've released nine new giclees in the last two weeks (25 new prints since last Fall) and my poster publisher, Poems Art Publishing, is readying new reproductions of my works for release in the next few weeks. I'll let you know when the new posters arrive.
2011 closed out with my learning that the Four Seasons Hotel Denver used two of my large giclees on canvas for one of their Banquet/Meeting rooms. It's a real honor and it goes nicely with the earlier Ritz-Carlton installation here as well.
New releases: 9 new giclees on canvas:
I've just released more limited edition giclees of some of my oils. The resulting reproductions make for very convincing originals on canvas.
(shown: "Autumn Verticals" oil on canvas, 48 x 60 inches. Original oil available in the studio and as a limited edition giclee on paper or canvas.)
You can see all of the new giclee releases on my website.
Recent Installation:

What a great time of the year. We have had a couple of snows now and Winter is making itself at home here in Colorado. My latest oil "Iced Over" is that Winter 'look' in blue.
On the calendar, I have works exhibiting at the Parker Adventist Hospital, Wed Nov 16th followed by my gallery in Taos, Total Arts, for a holiday miniature show with ten other other artists on Friday, November 11.
It has been ages since I worked on small oils, but after some wicked adjusting, I started making a series of small oil studies on boards for the Taos exhibit. I stayed with the smaller scale process and made more small works as templates for a series of new etchings that I'll release in early 2012. I'm looking forward to getting to the print studio and making these etchings - something I've been contemplating for years. It has been a great month for new artistic visions, travel and good friends.
New releases: 12 new giclees on canvas: I've just released limited edition giclees of some of my oils and monotypes on canvas. The resulting reproductions make for very convincing originals on canvas.(shown: "Red Autumn" oil on canvas, 36 x 36 inches, from the artist's collection.) You can see all of the new releases on my website.
Recent Installation:

Rose Medical Center, Denver A series of 48 x 48 inch giclees have been installed down this long corridor to give the area an upscale and warm effect.

The temperatures are becoming milder now and soon Fall, my favorite
season of the year will be here. After a visit to Aspen and the
Maroon Bells park nearby, I was inspired to paint the "Yellow Wall" oil
below. I enjoyed using the aspen colors without making a typical aspen
forest portrait....it was fun working with just color and form. My cloud
works also allow me the same freedom and a pair of large cloud oils were
recently commissioned for the prestigious Massachusetts General Hospital.
Happily, I was also invited to join the collection of works at The Madden
Museum here in the Denver metro for a short time... a nice capstone to a
busy summer.
Now
exhibiting: Madden Museum through Oct 7
